How to Travel to Victoria

There are two main ways to reach Victoria, British Columbia:

1. Landing Directly at Victoria International Airport (YYJ)

  • Victoria International Airport (YYJ) is located approximately 25 minutes by car from Royal Pacific Institute.
  • It mainly serves domestic flights from major Canadian cities such as Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary.

Important:

Victoria International Airport (YYJ) does not have immigration services to issue Study Permits. You cannot complete your first-time immigration entry at Victoria Airport.

If you are arriving in Canada for the first time as an international student, you must enter through an international airport with a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) immigration office, such as Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

2. Landing at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Continuing to Victoria

  • If you land at Vancouver International Airport (YVR), you must first complete immigration clearance and obtain your Study Permit at YVR.
  • After immigration, you can travel to Victoria by:
    • Taking a domestic connecting flight from Vancouver (YVR) to Victoria International Airport (YYJ); or
    • Taking ferry from Vancouver to Victoria.

BC Ferries operate regular ferry services between Tsawwassen Terminal (Vancouver) and Swartz Bay Terminal (Victoria).

Important:

Always ensure that you have obtained your Study Permit at Vancouver International Airport before proceeding to Victoria. Failure to do so could result in serious immigration complications.
