Minimum Attendance Requirements
1. Attendance Expectation
- Students are expected to attend all classes and clinic times, whether delivered in-person or online.
- Any missed hours must be made up at a later date as arranged with the instructor.
2. Punctuality
- Both students and instructors are expected to be on time for all classes.
- Late arrivals should wait for an appropriate time to enter the classroom (or virtual classroom) to minimize disruption.
- Students arriving more than 10 minutes late for class will be marked as absent unless prior notice has been given to the instructor.
3. Attendance Recording
- The college will provide attendance sheets (or digital attendance logs for online classes) to every instructor before the start of each course.
- Instructors are required to submit the completed attendance records to the administration within one week after the course ends.
- Attendance records will be maintained in the student’s file and tracked using the college’s student management system (currently teachngo.com).
4. Attendance Flexibility
- Students may choose to attend live online sessions or watch recorded lectures later.
- Recorded options will be available for students who are unable to attend the live sessions.
- In-person students who miss a live session will also have access to the recorded lectures.
5. Attendance Monitoring
- Attendance for synchronous (live) sessions will be monitored through login records and participation logs.
- For asynchronous (recorded) sessions, students must complete specific assignments or quizzes after watching the recorded lecture to confirm their attendance.
Impact on Course Grades
- Consistent attendance is critical for academic success. Absences without valid reasons may negatively impact the student’s grades.
- Specific attendance requirements will be linked to course participation marks. Students must meet the minimum attendance requirement to pass the course.
Reporting Absences
- In the event of illness or emergency, students must notify the school as soon as possible.
- If a student has a scheduled patient and cannot attend, they are responsible for informing the patient and arranging for rescheduling or for another student to conduct the treatment.
Classroom Conduct
1. Question Policy
- Students are encouraged to ask questions but should raise their hand (or click “Raise Hand” in virtual classrooms) and wait to be acknowledged by the instructor to minimize disruptions.
- Time will be allotted for questions at the end of each class.
2. Food Policy
- Eating is discouraged during class time to minimize disruptions.
- Students should eat during designated break or lunch times.
Monitoring and Evaluating Attendance
1. Regular Review
- Attendance data will be regularly reviewed to ensure compliance with the college’s policies and CTCMA requirements.
- Any discrepancies or issues will be addressed promptly to maintain the integrity of the attendance tracking process.
Conclusion
Adherence to this attendance policy is mandatory for all students. The college is committed to providing a supportive learning environment and ensuring that all students meet the educational standards set by CTCMA.
