Royal Pacific Institute’s Tuition and Fee Refund Policy is governed by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of British Columbia. The following outlines the conditions under which refunds are issued.
1. Before Program Start Date – Withdrawal by Student
- If withdrawal occurs no later than seven days after signing the enrollment contract and before the program start date:
- 100% refund of all tuition and related fees, excluding the application fee.
(Related fees include administrative fees, assessment fees, and fees charged for textbooks or course materials.)
- 100% refund of all tuition and related fees, excluding the application fee.
- If withdrawal occurs at least 30 days before the later of:
- (a) The program start date stated in the most recent Letter of Acceptance (for international students), or
- (b) The program start date stated in the enrollment contract:
- The institution may retain up to 10% of the tuition, to a maximum of $1,000.
- If withdrawal occurs more than seven days after signing the enrollment contract and less than 30 days before the later of:
- (a) The program start date stated in the most recent Letter of Acceptance (for international students), or
- (b) The program start date stated in the enrollment contract:
- The institution may retain up to 20% of the tuition, to a maximum of $1,300.
2. After Program Start Date – Withdrawal or Dismissal
- If up to and including 10% of instruction hours have been provided:
- The institution may retain up to 30% of the tuition.
- If more than 10% but less than 30% of instruction hours have been provided:
- The institution may retain up to 50% of the tuition.
3. No-Show (Student Fails to Attend Program)
- If the student does not attend the first 30% of the program:
- The institution may retain up to 50% of the tuition.
4. Refusal of Study Permit (International Students)
- If a student is refused a study permit before 30% of instruction hours would have been provided, based on the later of:
- (a) The program start date stated in the most recent Letter of Acceptance, or
- (b) The program start date stated in the enrollment contract:
- A 100% refund of tuition and all related fees will be provided, excluding the application fee.
- Note: Refunds are not applicable if the student has requested additional Letters of Acceptance.
5. Distance Education Programs – Withdrawal or Dismissal
- If up to 30% of the program is completed:
- The institution may retain up to 30% of the tuition.
- If more than 30% but less than 50% of the program is completed:
- The institution may retain up to 50% of the tuition.
- If 50% or more of the program is completed:
- No refund is due.
6. Student Enrolled Without Meeting Admission Requirements
- If the student was enrolled without meeting admission requirements (and did not misrepresent knowledge or skills):
- A 100% refund of tuition and all related fees, including the application fee, will be issued upon Registrar’s order.
7. Refund Payment Timeline
- Refunds will be issued within 30 days of:
- Receiving a notice of withdrawal;
- Receiving a refusal of a study permit;
- Providing a notice of dismissal;
- The date when the first 30% of instruction hours are scheduled (in the case of a no-show).
Notes:
- Application fees are non-refundable.
- All refund calculations are based on the tuition stated in the enrollment contract and the number of hours of instruction provided.
